Tedium Vitae, Mr. Mann Yells

Someone told him this. He knew
no Latin, but it seemed to fit
his life at 23. At 35 he got
interested. He began sailing
the streets. He began going
for broke. Early birds had
nothing on him. Joy abounded
but no money. Goods few.
Looking back on it he concluded
life had a message. Put your
ear to the ground, he advised.
Clean your plates. Look for
Jupiter rising. Haunt the daily.
Walk as far out on the glacier
as you can. Touch that woman
now. See if you can figure out
the dead. The sweet-faced blues.
