So little ego at this point, John. With its waning, does the desire to tell a story also leave?
These poems are seeking a minimalism beyond the Hiku. Is that possible? I think language is, itself, an indication of confusion. It is symptomatic of an effort to organize experience. When one is clear, does one cease to use language? Is there a need for a poem?
Taking another stab at this poem: “Saphire” meaning blood or fire?. “White Page” receiving this blood or ink as evidence of a life. “Snow” as “Winter” or, death. “Leaving” self-evident. So, for me there is a reasonance based on my association with these word/symbols, but it is so delicate, almost ephemeral. The Title says what I need to make the poem work. Together they create a kind of poetic sigh. I really don’t know how to approach poetry like this. But then, I’m not the one getting published!
